Chicha Morada
Equipment
- 1 Large Pot
- 1 Fine mesh strainer
Ingredients
- 1 Lbs Purple corn (maiz morado)
- 1 Cup Pineapple, chopped
- 1 Cup Apple, chopped
- 3 sticks Cinnamon
- 3 Cloves
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 2 Quarts Water
- 1/4 Cup Lime Juice
Instructions
- Rinse the purple corn in cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
- In a large pot, add the purple corn, cinnamon sticks, cloves, pineapple, and apple.
- Add enough water to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour, or until the liquid has reduced by half.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 15 minutes.
- Strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer and discard the solids.
- Add sugar and stir until dissolved.
- Add lime juice and stir to combine.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
- Serve over ice and enjoy!
